How can two women have a child?
A female couple can have a child through fertility treatment (depending on the country), an anonymous sperm donor, or co-parenting with a man who also wants to become a father.
Co-parenting has the advantage of giving the child an identified father who is involved in their life, rather than an anonymous donor, while the two mothers remain the primary day-to-day parents.
As with any co-parenting project, it's essential to clearly define the father's role, visit frequency, and shared decisions upfront.
A real story
We wanted our daughter to know her father, not just an anonymous donor. Co-parenting gave us exactly that.
